Direct Marketing Association announces 21 layoffs

November 7, 2008 The New York-based Direct Marketing Association has laid off 21 employees Oct. 20, according to the marketing industry web site Direct. The layoffs account for 20 percent of the DMA’s total staff and were centered in the organization’s marketing and conference departments, including four high-level executives, according to reports.The layoffs come eight days after DMA elected Kelly Browning as the new chairman of the board and put 16 other new board members in place.
